Dr. Fred Shaffer, Professor of Psychology at Truman State University, designed Biofeedback Tutor to provide students with an up-to-date textbook and professionals with an in-depth review for the BCIA General Biofeedback Certification Exam. The depth of coverage is intended to exceed the BCIA Blueprint of Knowledge to provide the most complete preparation we can.

We recommend that professionals invest in Moss, McGrady, Davies, and Wickramasekera's (2003) Handbook of mind-body medicine for primary care, Peper and Gibney's (2006) Muscle biofeedback at the computer, Schwartz and Andrasik's (2003) Biofeedback: A practitioner's guide (3rd ed.), Striefel's (2004) Practice guidelines and standards for providers of biofeedback and applied psychophysiological services, and Yucha and Gilbert's (2004) Evidence-based practice in biofeedback and neurofeedback. These are indispensable references that belong on every practitioner's bookshelf.

Peper, Gibney, Tylova, Harvey, and Combatalade's (in press) Mastery through experience is a superb laboratory manual for training students and professional staff. The laboratory exercises are well designed, beautifully illustrated, and closely coordinated with Biofeedback Tutor.

John Anderson, Tony Hughes, Doil Montgomery, Don Moss, Randy Neblett, Erik Peper, Rich Sherman, and Seb Striefel have made invaluable contributions to this product through their scholarship, feedback, and generous donation of content.

You can navigate through Biofeedback Tutor's 26 units by clicking on a topic from the menu at the top of this page. At the end of each unit, you can take a 10-question multiple-choice test to check your mastery of its content. You will need an active internet connection to use this feature. We have provided you with a username and password in the printed instructions that accompany this CD. The folder on the Blackboard Corporate site containing these tests is named, Biofeedback Tutor.
